New bookstore means more money for APSU
January 14, 2002
By late spring when all student food services move into the new University Center, the old Harvill Cafeteria will be transformed into a bright new book and supply store. A private company will lease and operate the store. According to President Hoppe, the company-yet to be decided-must buy out the University's current stock of merchandise. Under a new contract between APSU and the Licensing Resource Group (LRG), the company also will pay the University royalties of 7.5 percent on any item of logo merchandise sold. As of November 2001, LRG not only ensures all manufacturers using APSU's name and logos are licensed, but also that APSU receives a 7.5 percent royalty on every item sold. When you purchase a sweatshirt, you put money in the University budget!
