National security expert to speak on campus
November 26, 2002
An APSU alumnus and founding member of the newly formed Transportation Security Administration was on campus today to speak to political science and history classes.
As the fifth person to join the first pure governmental start-up in 70 years, Ron Carter plays a key role in addressing issues facing the country in the wake of last year's terrorist attacks.
Carter, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a tank commander and logistician, earned his master's degree in public administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University after earning his bachelor's at APSU.
Currently, he is a major in the USMC Reserve, serving the War Fighting Command/Joint Operations Center, Quantico, Va. With his current work for the Transportation Security Administration, it is not an overstatement to say Carter's work is integral to America's national security.
