Woodward Library Society hosting annual Society Social on April 6

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – This April, Austin Peay State University’s Woodward Library Society will host its annual Society Social, featuring author Michael Doubler. 

The Society Social, a library friend-raising and fundraising dinner, is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, in the Franklin Room of the F&M Bank in downtown Clarksville. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner catered by the Party Station. Throughout the evening there will be a silent auction for a variety of gift baskets, including one containing Uncle Dave Macon CDs and tickets to the Grand Ole Opry, the Musician’s Hall of Fame & Museum, and a tour of the Ryman.

The presentation begins at 7:30 p.m. featuring Doubler, author of “Dixie Dewdrop: The Uncle Dave Macon Story,” a biography of the Grand Ole Opry’s first major superstar. Doubler will be accompanied by his brother, banjo player John Doubler, who will perform some of Uncle Dave Macon’s songs. The Doubler brothers are the great-grandsons of Macon.

Tickets to the event are $50 for Woodward Library Society members and $65 for non-members. To purchase tickets, call 931-221-7618. Dress is business casual.

The Woodward Library Society, founded in 2009, is an organization of library friends dedicated to the advancement of Austin Peay’s Felix G. Woodward Library. The purpose of the Society is to strengthen the resources of the library and increase awareness of those resources. The Society is a non-profit organization affiliated with the APSU Foundation.
