Languages and literature host book discussion group
October 23, 2000
Faculty and staff are invited to join their fellow book lovers to discuss “Before and After” by Rosellen Brown this Thursday, Oct. 26, from 12:30 to 1:30 at the African American Cultural Center. The book traces the ripples in a small New Hampshire town after a 17-year-old boy brutally murders his girlfriend. Class and gender shape the conflict as a community confronts the ambiguous cultural messages about manhood in the 1980s and the tragic consequences of that ambiguity to one family's daughter and another family's son.
The Cultural Center is located in the rear of the Clement building. All faculty, staff and students are invited to bring lunch and join in the discussion, whether they've read the book or not.
