Gerald Beavers has agreed to serve as interim executive director for APSU's Center @ Fort Campbell. Beavers has served as director of the School of Technology and Public Management since July 1998.
He first came to the APSU in July 1996 as law enforcement program manager after serving as chief of police in Topeka, Kansas, and Asheville, N.C., and as chief of operations for the Louisville, Ky., police department. He also taught at Washburn University in Topeka and the University of Louisville and was a guest lecturer for Valencia Community College in Orlando. “During the time Mr. Beavers has served at APSU, he has demonstrated strong leadership and excellent communication skills,” said Dr. Sherry Hoppe, APSU's interim president. “More importantly, he is a team player who works cooperatively with all areas of the University to ensure students at APSU's Fort Campbell campus receive excellent instruction and service. I'm confident he'll do a great job.”
Beavers is working toward his Ph.D. in public administration at Tennessee State University. He has a master's degree in administration of justice and a bachelor's degree in police administration, both from the University of Louisville.
