Interim alumni director named to permanent position

Shelia Boone, Austin Peay State University's interim director of alumni and annual giving, has received the permanent appointment.
A 1971 graduate of APSU, Boone has been employed by the University since 1971. Before her selection as interim alumni director in September 2000, she worked as events manager for the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts since 1987.
Her duties included organizing and maintaining a system of information flow to expedite the comprehensive planning of approximately 100 center-sponsored events annually. She was charged with creating promotional materials, writing releases for all events and scheduling students and staff to work each event.
During 1982-87, she was secretary III in the Office of the Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, where she worked with about 100 faculty in 12 departments and five programs. During 1971-82, she was secretary in the Office of Public and Sports Information where she interacted regularly with members of the community, University and media.
As far as APSU activities, Boone was president of the APSU Women's Club and is a member of the National Alumni Association, Governors Club, Sigma Alpha Iota Fraternity for Women, Omicron Delta Kappa, APSU Theatre Scholarship Benefit Committee and APSU Community Activity Committee.
She serves on the board of directors of the APSU/Clarksville Community Concert Artist Series and Mid-Cumberland Arts League and belongs to the Friends of the Library.
She has a grown son, Robert Alan, also of Clarksville.
