Hoppe appoints two interim deans
July 9, 2001
Dr. Gaines Hunt, professor of agriculture, will be interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, replacing Dr. Richard Hogan.
Dr. Stephanie Newport, chair of the department of finance, management and marketing, will serve as interim dean of the College of Business, replacing Dr. Carmen Reagan who has been named director of the President's Emerging Leaders Program.
Hunt has considerable administrative experience, having served as a department chair, assistant vice president and graduate dean. Hoppe said, "As a senior professor, Dr. Hunt is well respected across the University. We are fortunate he is willing to accept this responsibility until a permanent dean is selected."
Newport was cited for her "strong commitment to the College of Business" and extensive administrative experience. "Dr. Newport not only served as the leader of the department of finance, management and marketing, she also has served as president of the Faculty Senate and has provided service to Austin Peay on special projects, task forces and committees," Hoppe said.
Both interim appointments became effective July 1.
