November 20, 2000

Welcome the Christmas season with a special dinner and world premiere performance of St. Nicholas” by British composer Richard Shepherd and Hopkinsville resident Dr. Mark Schweizer. “St. Nicholas” is the second in a series of three short Christmas stories Schweizer and Shephard have set to music. The first, “Good King Wincelas,” will also be performed as part of the celebration.

Before the performance, a festive holiday feast will be served, and strolling singers and players will entertain.

“For the last several years, many people in the community have expressed an interest in the return of the madrigal feast, which was performed on campus for 25 years and then discontinued,” says Dr. Allen Henderson, chair of the department of music. “This event will blend elements of past feasts with the wonderful premiere performance of this one-act musical drama.”

Tickets are $30 per person, and tables for eight are available. Make reservations by calling the department of music at 7818 by today, Monday, Nov. 27. (Tickets to the world premiere performance only are $12 for adults, $5 for students.)
