Faculty expertise spotlighted in area media
February 12, 2001
When the federal government cut the primary interest rate, Dr. Jerry Plummer, assistant professor of economics, speculated in the press that the move probably wouldn't be enough to jump-start the economy.
As the state legislature moved the lottery bill through its committees, Plummer pointed out a lottery alone wouldn't solve Tennessee's economic woes.
Plummer is just one of numerous faculty members quoted in area media as the result of an effort called "Local Angle."
PR staff launched "Local Angle" last semester to provide the media with expert commentary and to enhance the visibility of Austin Peay.
But for the media/faculty connection to work, members of the faculty must declare their areas of expertise. What's yours? Call or e-mail "Local Angle" coordinator Ken West.
