Electronic sign goes up

The University's electronic sign, made possible through a partnership with Pepsi, was installed last week and soon will be ready to begin "broadcasting."

Two- or three-line text messages will scroll continuously across the face of the sign, along with the time and temperature.

The sign in located in front of the Sundquist Science Complex greenhouse.

New messages, which will be posted daily or more often, are the responsibility of the Public Relations and Marketing Office. Computer Services Office staff will assume the technical aspects of information transfer.

Debbie Denton, marketing manager, called the board "a great communication tool," one that can be used to promote events, activities and key dates such as application and registration deadlines.

According to Lamar Outdoor Advertising, which maintains traffic-count data for most area roads, 11,400 vehicles travel College Street daily.
