Before becoming Austin Peay State University, the school located on the university's current site was associated with what religious denomination?

Answer: Presbyterian. It was the Southwestern Presbyterian University, a school of about 80 students, from 1875-1925. That school was moved to Memphis because it drew the bulk of its students from the West Tennessee and Mississippi portions of the Presbyterian Synod the institution served.
