On Monday, March 18, the new Morgan Student Center is scheduled to open. The previous center was constructed in 1967. What are the similarities and differences in the two structures?
Answer: Both the old and new centers were constructed directly across the large bowl in the center of the campus. The old Center was financed with state appropriations and the sale of revenue bonds to be repaid from an increase in student fees. The new Center, too, was paid for through increased student fees-a sacrifice made voluntarily by Austin Peay students who wanted future students to have a great new center. Both the former and present buildings could boast a snack bar, ballroom, several conference rooms, offices for the Student Government Association, post office and game rooms.
