Austin Peay director of physical plant named Rotarian of the Year

July 30, 2002

Ben Pratt, director of physical plant, was named Rotarian of the Year by the Sunrise Rotary Club this month.

The news came as a complete surprise to Pratt. "It was the first time in my life I've ever been speechless," he says.

Membership in service organizations is a tradition in the Pratt family. "My father was a Mason. My brother was a Mason and a Shriner." Pratt said his father, who is now ill, was thrilled to hear about the award.

"I know it meant a lot to him," he says.

The Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, promote high ethical standards and help build goodwill and peace. Its concerns include children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy and violence.
