The art of innocents: APSU's Child Learning Center to auction art
April 22, 2002
Flowers blowing in the wind. Artful smears of color that could be anything from a storybook palace to the face of someone beloved. There's a reason the art is so childlike. It was created by children from five-months to five-years old.
Austin Peay's Child Learning Center will auction off the art of its young charges at the Krafty Kids Art Auction next Thursday. The event will be from 7 to 9 p.m. in the ballroom of the newly opened Morgan University Center, and it will showcase some 200 creations by children at the learning center. APSU art students will have works for sale.
Attendees may bid on the children's art and purchase pieces by the older students, who will be on hand to answer questions.
Proceeds from the auction will help build a scholarship fund for students in need of childcare.
The event is free and open to the public.
