APSU/Clarksville Community group presents "A Gershwin Party"
February 11, 2002
If you are wondering what to do for that special someone for Valentine's Day, worry no more. The APSU/Clarksville Community Concert Artist Series has taken care of everything with a Valentine's Day package sure to make the evening memorable.
The event begins with dinner for two at 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, at The Black Horse Pub and Brewery, 132 Franklin Street. Dinner will be served until 6:30 p.m., and you may choose from three Valentine's Day entrees.
Following dinner, guests will enjoy a fun-filled tribute to the music of Gershwin, beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the concert theatre of the music/mass communication building. Master pianist Leon Bates will be joined by William Brown, tenor, and Louise Toppin, soprano, as the audience is transported back to the '20s and '30s, when George and Ira Gershwin created tunes that are as fresh and fun today as they were decades ago.
The Valentine's Day package is $75 per couple and includes two dinners at the Black Horse plus two concert tickets. Payment for the dinner and concert must be received by the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts by noon on Wednesday, Feb. 13.
Tickets for the concert only are $25 or adults and $12 for students and will be available from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays beginning Thursday, Feb. 7, at the music ticket office.
