11/2/2011

All U.S. veterans – including those fallen during war, prisoners of war and missing in action – will be honored during a joint Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 8 at Fort Campbell, Ky.

Austin Peay State University is one of several postsecondary institutions participating in the program, which will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8 in the auditorium of the Glenn English Army Education Center. The event is free and open to the public.

All of the postsecondary institutions occupying the Education Center, including the Austin Peay Center @ Fort Campbell, will participate in the ceremony.

The event will feature remarks by dignitaries and a reading of a student essay selected from a recent competition at Fort Campbell High School. Students were assigned to write an essay on the topic, “What Veterans Day means to me.”

Refreshments prepared by the APSU culinary arts program at Fort Campbell will be provided after the ceremony.
