APSU faculty and staff share recent plaudits


            CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced awards as part of their professional and scholarly activities.


Beth Liggett, university photographer, won third place for her photo, "Color Party,” in the University Photographers’ Association of America monthly photo contest. The photo competed in the spot and feature category. The photo was taken during APSU’s first “Gov Run” event.


Jake Lowary, coordinator of Student Publications and adviser to The All State newspaper and The Monocle yearbook, was awarded with a Presidential Citation following the National College Media Convention from Oct. 23-27 in New Orleans, La. Lowary was a member of the Convention Planning Committee, responsible for arranging and scheduling more than 300 presentations from professional media practitioners and college media advisers. Drawing on his previous experience as a professional war correspondent, Lowary also presented on the journalist’s role and influence in covering conflicts.
