APSU employees share recent professional developments, activities


            CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced conferences they attended as part of their professional and scholarly activities.


Mary Fran Davis, chair of the APSU Department of Social Work; Dr. Tatshusi Hirono, assistant professor of social work; and Dr. Michelle Blake, assistant professor of social work, attended the Council on Social Work Education’s Annual Program Meeting in Dallas, Texas, on Oct. 31-Nov. 3.  In addition, Blake and Hirono completed the training necessary to become CSWE Site Visitors to programs applying for or renewing accreditation.


Dr. Stephen Truhon, associate professor of psychology, recently traveled to Seoul, South Korea, to present a paper titled “Toxic Leadership in the U.S. Leadership” at the 55th International Military Testing Association conference. The paper is based upon research that Truhon did during the summer at the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida. 


Dr. Sergei A. Markov, professor of biology, served as panel moderator at the World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology in Montreal, Canada, last summer. The title of this panel was: “Algae: Overcoming Challenges in Cultivation and Production.” Markov also made a presentation on this panel. The title of his presentation was “Photobioreactors for microalgal cultivation.”
