Adams accepts full-time position at TBR
October 15, 2002
Dr. Bob Adams was appointed vice chancellor for finance for the Tennessee Board of Regents yesterday.
Although he had planned to serve as interim only until the position was filled through a regular search process, he was approached by several board members and nominated by all the community college presidents for the permanent position. He subsequently agreed to be interviewed and was recommended by the chancellor to the full Board.
He will continue to serve APSU half time until the end of December, when he will assume the full-time position at the TBR.
In commenting on Dr. Adams' new position, Dr. Hoppe said, "While APSU will lose a valued member of our executive team on a full-time basis, we will have a trusted colleague at the TBR office who understands and supports our institution.
"My preference would have been for Bob to remain at APSU, but his skills and abilities were needed at the TBR, and I respect his willingness to respond to the call for service by our board and by my fellow presidents.
"Bob will do a great job at the system level and, as an alumnus, he will continue to be involved in many APSU activities. Although we will not see him on a daily basis after the end of the year, we know we can count on his support and advice when needed."
Dr. Hoppe also announced today that the Chancellor has approved the transfer of Mitch Robinson from Dyersburg State to APSU to fill the VP position that will be vacated by Dr. Adams.
"We're very fortunate that Mitch is willing to return to APSU," Hoppe said. "He did an outstanding job as interim VP in 2001, and he'll be able to hit the ground running when he returns in January 2003."
