This year, we begin our 4th Annual Austin Peay Scavenger Hunt celebrating National Distance Learning Week! Current students who complete the hunt will be entered into a drawing to win a Garmin nüvi 1300LM GPS navigator with lifetime map updates.
Each year we try to do something fun and useful for our students, and we are particularly excited about this year's theme. Each clue will direct you to a different learning tool or website that should be of great help to you with your online classes. Some of the tools you will already be familiar with, but you may not have thought about how useful these tools are to your studies. So hunt with the frame of mind that you are looking for things that can help you in your studies.
For those of you new to online scavenger hunts - and even our veteran hunters will do well to remember - here are some tricks of the trade that will be enormously helpful in hunting.
1. View source code (right-click on website and select to view the page’s source).
2. Use search engines.
3. Think about and look up word definitions, synonyms, homonyms and the like.
4. Highlight invisible text at the bottom of pages (by holding down the mouse left click and dragging).
5. Count the number of asterisks (*) because the number of asterisks equals the number of letters in your answer. And then your answer will replace the asterisks in the URL, and that URL will take you to the next clue.
6. Move your mouse on top of images and hold steady to see if the images speak clues to you with little text messages that just appear like magic. Try it with the image below, which has mouseover text on top of mouseover text.

7. If you see blank space on a page and feel like something is missing, it probably is. Refresh the page, and you'll hopefully see some video or images that were previously in hiding.
8. Collaborate with your fellow students, especially in the discussion boards inside the NDLW course. (You can add the NDLW course by selecting Self Registration in D2L.)
