The Honor Orchestra Festival is designed for high school student string players grades 9-12 upon recommendation of the orchestra director or private teacher.

Since its inception in 2010, student participation in the APSU Honor Orchestra Festival (HOF) has more than tripled. Starting in 2018, we will be offering one high level orchestra, similar to the Philharmonia (Advanced) Orchestra from past years. We encourage teachers to recommend their most advanced and hard-working students!

To apply, students must submit a completed application and teachers must complete the teacher recommendation form.

Priority application deadline is Friday, Sept. 14, 2018

Students: Apply online today!

Teachers: Complete your teacher recommendations online!

The clinic fee for each Honor Orchestra student selected is $35, which includes lunch and dinner on Friday in the APSU food court and one student ticket to the String Quartet concert Friday evening. This fee is due upon acceptance into the festival. This is a change from past years when the fee was paid at registration. Accepted students will receive email confirmation of acceptance and a list of orchestral excerpts. Festival fee may be paid using credit or debit card on Marketplace, or by check sent to Dr. Emily Hanna Crane (APSU Department of Music, PO Box 4625, Clarksville, TN, 37044), made payable to APSU with HOF in the memo line.

There is no fee to apply. Only accepted students pay the festival fee. Please note that there is no refund for cancellations. Thank you for your understanding.

Students selected to participate will arrive on Thursday afternoon, September 27 for the seating audition and evening rehearsal. Students are expected to practice music ahead of time. See the Schedule page for more details about the festival events

Sectionals and clinics will be led by APSU Orchestral Strings faculty.

Out-of-town students must be accompanied by the orchestra director, private teacher, or a designated parent chaperone. Chaperones must remain on the APSU campus or have a cell phone number to be reached for emergencies while students participate in the festival. Students, orchestra directors or teachers, and parent chaperones will need to make arrangements for housing in the Clarksville area hotels. Local residents may opt to stay at home.
