Graduate Admission for Studies in Music
To be admitted as a graduate student in music at APSU you must:
NOTE: Master of Music students are exempt from taking the GRE.
Graduate Assistantships are available for fall and spring semesters to students by competitive audition and each includes BOTH a stipend and tuition/fee waivers. Music Assistantships are awarded to excellent musicians who also assume at least one (usually more) special role within the Department. Assistantships and the kinds of duties involved are explained at our application information web page. For priority consideration for a music assistantship, students should audition before the end of March. However, those interested in an assistantship are encouraged to email the Department, even if after March 31. Assistantships within the University sometimes open quite unexpectedly; so students are advised to inquire as to availability of assistantships, even after the final official audition/interview day.
(For more specific details on assistantships, please consult the Handbook for Graduate Assistants published by the College of Graduate Studies).
Out-of-State Tuition Waiver Awards (if assistantships are no longer available)
Even after all assistantships have been allocated, there are a number of Out-of-State Tuition Waivers available for qualified students in the music program.
