Graduate Admission for Studies in Music

To be admitted as a graduate student in music at APSU you must:

The process for applying to graduate programs in music is outlined below.

Graduate Audition Dates for Fall 2016 Entrance

  • Monday, January 25 (3:30-5pm)
  • Saturday, February 13 (afternoon)
  • Monday, February 15 (3:30-5pm)
  • Saturday, March 19 (afternoon)
  • Monday, March 21 (3:30-5pm)

1. Apply to the College of Graduate Studies:
NOTE: Master of Music students are exempt from taking the GRE.

2. Schedule an audition.

Students may schedule an audition by submitting the Online Audition request - see link below. 

Auditions are normally held on selected Saturdays and on Mondays from 3:30 - 5:00 P.M.  If there are extenuating circumstances, alternate audition arrangements may be made. Those who wish to be considered for an assistantship must audition by the last week of March.

An accompanist will be provided if applicants send pdf copies of audition music.  This can be done as part of the online audition request;  however, applicants may also send audition music via email to Staff Accompanist, Hyeeun Hahm, AND to Graduate Coordinator, Korre Foster   NOTE: Regardless of how the applicant chooses to send the music, it must be received at least two weeks prior to the audition.

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate Assistantships are available for fall and spring semesters to students by competitive audition and include stipends of varying amounts and out-of-state tuition fee waivers. (Note: The audition must take place by the last week of March in order to be considered for a graduate assistantship).
