NORMA JEAN SMITH
Department Secretary
Norma Jean Smith has been with the
Department of Music since 1990. She began her career at Austin
Peay State University in 1979 in the Office of Continuing
Education, where she provided community and Elderhostel
classes. Before coming to APSU, Mrs. Smith worked for the
University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service – 4-H
Clubs, Home Demonstration Clubs and other agricultural areas.
As a member of the Professional
Secretaries International Organization, she has held every
office and received the Past President’s Award and the Secretary
of the Year award. In 1998-99, she had the pleasure of serving
as the Chapter Sweetheart for the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at
APSU. Other memberships have included the Clarksville Business
and Professional Women’s Organization.
Mrs. Smith received her Associate’s degree
in Business Administration from APSU in 1991 and was a member of
the first Winter Commencement at APSU.
Interests outside Austin Peay include
cooking/entertaining, word puzzles, traveling, and church
activities.
