Our annual Honor Band Festival welcomes over 200 high school students annually to rehearse and perform with nationally recognized clinicians in two ensembles (grades 9-10 and 11-12). This year’s clinicians will include Dr. Scott Boerma (director of bands at Western Michigan University) and Dr. Nikk Pilato (associate director of bands at Indiana State University). Students will arrive on campus during the afternoon of February 14 for seating auditions. Rehearsals will continue through the Saturday concert at 2pm. Students will also be able to enjoy a concert by the APSU Wind Ensemble and participate in sectional rehearsals and clinics with APSU’s acclaimed Wind and Percussion faculty. Below you will find additional information on our festival. Check back here for updates!

Information for Students
An application for the Governors Honor Band Festival must be submitted by your director. The Application Information document is only to be used to collect information for your director. Applications will be made through the form for your director to complete. If you are notified of selection, you will have until February 8 to complete your registration including the $40 non-refundable registration fee. Selection for all sections is generally quite competitive. Please keep in mind that the decision to submit an application is a commitment to attend if selected. Excerpts for seating auditions will be posted on this site in early February.
Information for Directors
As explained in the section above, applications may only be submitted by the director. In order to submit student to Honor Band, please download the excel file (form found here.) and complete. Email completed excel form to email@example.com. We have provided an Application Information template for students to fill out to assist you in this process. As in years past, we will run a concurrent Conducting Workshop. All directors attending the Governors Honor Band Festival will be granted auditor status and directors wishing to participate as conductors will receive a discount towards registration. Additional information may be found here.
In years past we have listed a handful of hotel options in the Clarksville area for those attending from out of town. Due to difficulties with some of these hotels honoring rates, and the opening of several new hotels in the past few years, we will not attempt to provide that information. The Riverview Hotel has the closest proximity to campus. Many hotels will offer an Austin Peay rate so we encourage you to enquire.
As more information becomes available we will post it on this website. In the meantime, if you have any questions not answered here feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
