Graduate Degrees in Music

Graduate music programs at APSU are designed to:

  • prepare students for careers as performers

  • prepare students for careers as educators

  • prepare students who wish to pursue doctoral studies in applied music

  • provide professional music teachers with further training

We offer a Master of Music Degree in the following areas:

Master of Music in Music Education

Master of Music in Performance

  • Instrumental, Piano, or Vocal Specialization

  • Conducting

The music department also offers a summer graduate program which will allow a student to complete the Master of Music degree in three summers and without full-time residency during the academic year. Courses are offered on a rotating basis and take place during the first summer session, meeting five days a week for approximately one month. This is an ideal program for those who have full-time jobs during the academic year and cannot take time off to attend school at that time.

Graduate Assistantships are available for fall and spring semesters to students by competitive audition and include stipends of varying amounts and out-of-state fee waiver.
