SUSAN SMITH

Ann Susan K. Smith is currently the Second Trombonist of the Nashville Symphony and is teaching trombone and conducting the APSU Trombone Choir on the adjunct music faculty at Austin Peay State University. As well as having freelanced several years in the Chicago area, she has performed entire seasons with the following orchestras: The Grant Park Symphony, The South Bend Symphony Orchestra, The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, The Springfield Symphony, the Naples Philharmonic, The Florida Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

She earned a BME degree from the University of North Texas. She also taught trombone as an adjunct instructor at McNeese State University and Notre Dame.  In 1982, she was the winner of the ITW Frank Smith Trombone solo scholarship. Susan is an Alumnus of the Millar Brass Ensemble and can be heard on their Koss label CD performing one of the only known recordings of the Hornoff Suite for Trombone Quartet.
