Dr. PATRICIA HALBECK

Patricia
Halbeck is Associate Professor of Music at Austin Peay State University in
Clarksville, Tennessee where she teaches studio piano, piano pedagogy, piano
literature, accompanying, and class piano. She holds degrees from Northwestern
University, Evanston, IL (B.M.) , University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill (M.M.), and the University of Oklahoma at Norman (D.M.A.). In addition,
she holds a Certificate from the Franz-Schubert-Institut in Baden-bei-Wien,
Austria where she studied German art song performance with artists such as
Walter Moore, Jorg Demus, Elly Ameling, Rudolf Jansen, and Hans Hotter.
Dr. Halbeck has been the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships including
the Logan Fellowship, the Oklahoma Board of Regents Fellowship, and the National
Graduate Fellows Grant from the U.S. Dept. of Education for doctoral study
in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Fine Arts. She was the winner of the
Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, and has appeared
as soloist and accompanist throughout the United States.
As founder of the Austin Peay Community School of the Arts, Dr. Halbeck sustains
a continuing interest in piano pedagogy and music/arts education for students
of all ages and levels. She is active as a clinician, adjudicator,
lecture/recitalist, accompanist, and solo pianist.
