Brian Horner
adjunct professor saxophone
Brian Horner moved to Nashville in 1999 after graduating
from the University of Michigan School of Music, where he studied with Donald
Sinta. As a member of The Arbor Quartet, Mr. Horner was a prizewinner in the
1998 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in South Bend, Indiana, and a
finalist in the 1999 Coleman Chamber Music Competition in Pasadena, California.
He has performed in concert halls throughout the eastern United States,
including New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Mr. Horner recently recorded with Curb
Records recording artist Gretchen Peters for her new studio album, Halcyon,
recently released in Europe and the United Kingdom. His performance on Peters’
“The Aviator’s Song” can be heard on radio stations throughout England
and Scotland. Other projects include work with long-time musical collaborator,
Deerslayer Productions recording artist Aaron Stayman, for his debut CD,
Human Condition, and a solo album featuring the classical saxophone music of
composer
M. Zachary Johnson. Mr. Horner has appeared with the
Nashville Saxophone Quartet on National Public Radio affiliate WPLN’s “Live
in Studio C,” performed with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, and with
Armenian folk-rocker Gor Mkhitarian in Boston. He has appeared as soloist with
several high school and middle school bands and most recently, was featured as a
guest artist on the Glimmerglass Opera’s Young Artist recital series in
Cooperstown, New York. Mr. Horner serves on the faculty at Austin Peay State
University in Clarksville, Tennessee.
