ANDREA E. BROWN
assistant director of bands
Andrea is in her third year as Director of
Athletic Bands and Assistant Director of Bands at Austin Peay State University
in Clarksville, TN. Originally from Milan, TN, Ms. Brown holds a M.M. in Music
Education and a M.M. in Horn Performance from the University of North Carolina
at Greensboro. She received her B.S. in Music Education and Performance from
APSU where she was named an Outstanding Music Major. As a member of the AA Brass
Quintet, Ms. Brown won the 2001 International Brass Quintet Competition. She has
performed with the North Carolina, Winston-Salem, and the Long Bay Symphony
Orchestras, as well as the Brevard Music Center Orchestra. Prior to her
arrival at APSU, Ms. Brown taught public school in Milwaukee,Wisconsin, and
Dallas, Texas. An avid drum corps fan, she has been an instructor with Carolina
Crown of Ft. Mill, SC, and is currently in her third year on the brass staff of
the Phantom Regiment from Rockford, IL. Ms. Brown is an active clinician and
adjudicator of both marching and concert ensembles thoughout the southeast. Her
professional memberships include College Band Directors National Association, TMEA, MENC, Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Kappa Lambda, and was awarded the Sigma Alpha Iota
Women’s Music Fraternity Rose of Honor in 2000. On warm, sunny days you will
most likely find her riding her motorcycle or hiking with her Chesapeake Bay
retriever mix, Solomon.
