The White House Internship: A Public Service Leadership Program 

The White House Internship Program's mission is to make the "People's House" accessible to future leaders from around the nation and cultivate and prepare those devoted to public service for future leadership opportunities. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, 18 years of age on or before the first day of the internship, and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution)
  • Graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college, or university (two-to-four year institution) no more than two years before the first day of the internship
  • A veteran of the United States Armed Forces who possesses a high school diploma or its equivalent and has served on active duty, for any length of time, in the two years preceding the first day of the internship 

Deadline for a Summer 2015 internship is on January 11, 2015.  

Fry scholarships Extended to Spouses of Fallen Service Members

In August, Congress approved the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act. One provision of this new legislation will expand eligibility for the Fry Scholarship, giving a valuable new educational option to the surviving spouses of those killed in action in the post-9/11 era.  Read more at:

Raytheon Patriot Scholarship

Student Veterans of America and Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems have partnered to provide a scholarship to veterans pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited four-year college or university. The Raytheon Patriot Scholarship will support U.S Army student veterans. This partnership will enable returning soldiers to pursue their education goals and position them for success in civilian professions.

The 2015 Raytheon Patriot Scholarship application will open November 11, 2014 and remain open until February 1, 2015 at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time. Student veterans must complete an online application, answer three (3) essay questions, attach the required documents, and have one letter of reference be submitted prior to the deadline to be considered. President's Community College Graduate Scholarship

Austin Peay State University now offers scholarships to transfer students. These scholarships are available to all Hopkinsville Community College and Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) community college graduates who have achieved at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA while completing their associates degree and meet requirements for admission to APSU. Transfer students should note that they may be eligible for scholarships beyond those specifically designed for transfer students, so they should conduct thorough research each year to apply for all the scholarship opportunities that are applicable to them. We are no longer taking Text for vets Applications for the Fall Semester, we will reopen the program on January 12th, 2015. For those who have textbooks out, we would like to remind you that the textbooks are due back on the 12th of December, 2014. Textbook Donations Requested

We accept used and new textbook donations year round to help us increase our Text for Vets Library. This library is the means of providing text books to all APSU students to aid them in reducing the financial costs of attending this university. Textbooks can be donated during the Military Student Center's regular business hours in MUC Room 120 (located behind the University Post Office). Our hours of operation are Monday- Tuesday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Wednesday- Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. If you have any questions or want to make donation arrangements please call us at (931) 221-1685 or email us msc@apsu.edu.

Tech for Vets

Veterans Affairs Education

If you are receiving VA education benefits, then do not forget to submit your enrollment Certification Request Form (CRF) and VA Fee Deferment for the upcoming Spring 2015 term. You can submit the enrollment certification as well as monitor your status through your AP OneStop.

Spring 2015

  • 12/15/14 to 1/16/15 for pre-registered students
  • 1/20/15 to 1/21/15 for late registration
