Scholarships
The Department of Mathematics offers several scholarships. Application

Jack Hunt Memorial
Established in 2004 by Dan Hunt, son of Jack Hunt, this scholarship provides
$1000 per semester to a junior or senior full-time student majoring in
mathematics. Applicants should have strong personal character and
committed to finishing a degree in mathematics at APSU. Minimum GPA of 3.2
required.
Ken and Amy Landrum
Established in 2002 by Ken Landrum and Amy Hope Landrum, APSU alumni, this
scholarship is awarded to Math and Education majors. The awards are made
annually on a one-time basis and preference is given to residents of
Montgomery County or Stewart County, Tennessee.
Mathematics
This
award is given to students majoring in mathematics or majoring in computer
science with a minor in mathematics who demonstrate outstanding potential.
The Jim and Sharon Ridenhour
Senior Statistics Award
Established in 2007 by longtime APSU employees Jim and Sharon Ridenhour, this
scholarship rewards an outstanding senior concentrating in statistics.
The award is $500 each semester of the recipient's senior year.
Neil Ross Memorial
This
scholarship was established in memory of Neil Ross, former professor of
mathematics at Austin Peay. The scholarship is open to math and math
education majors. Awards are made for one year, but are renewable if
recipient meets criteria and reapplies. A GPA of 3.0 and full-time status
are required. Preference will be given to a student from Montgomery County,
and selection will be made by a departmental committee. Freshmen and
transfer mathematics majors should submit two letters of recommendation to
the Department of Mathematics, APSU Box 4626, Clarksville, TN 37044. |

Hamel
Established by Tom and Nancy Hamel. Dr. Tom Hamel is an APSU professor
emeritus of mathematics and Nancy retired from the Austin Peay University
Bookstore. The scholarships are given to incoming freshman who plan to major
in mathematics based on high school success.
Harold T. Knight Memorial
This scholarship was
established in 2004 in memory of Harold T. Knight by Ms. Janis Mize. Mr.
Knight taught at Waverly Central High School. The recipient should be from
Waverly, Tennessee and major in mathematics, political science (pre-law) or
history.
Hendon-Stokes
Given
by the late Dr. Elizabeth Hendon Stokes, the late Walter L. Hendon, Jr., and
Dr. William G. Stokes, in memory of their parents, Walter L. and Gertrude
Hendon and Glenn and Lurlene Stokes. These scholarships are for majors in
mathematics or special education. Awards are based on need or merit as
determined by the appropriate department faculty, with each department being
given the opportunity to award a $500 annual scholarship. (Also listed under
