September 18

The Montgomery County Chapter held its annual Round-Up Party. The event was held and sponsored by Ajax Distributing. The chapter raised approximately $8,000 with help from many committee members along with the sponsorship money.

October 7

The Nashville Alumni Chapter sponsored a luncheon at Merchants on Broadway. Paula Wall ('76), a nationally syndicated humor columnist, spoke to 70 alumni.


A beautiful new, bricked gateway off Second Street provides a stately entrance to the Pace Alumn Center at Emerald Hill.  The gate, as well as the newly paved road leading up the hill to the mansion, were funded through class reunion gifts.  These gates are the results of contributions made by the APSU Foundation and the following Reunion Classes:  1946, 1949, 1951, 1954, 1956, 1959, 1961, 1954, 1966, 1969, 1971, 1974, 1976 and 1979.

November 16

The Tri-Cities Chapter of Kentucky sponsored a student recruitment reception at the Holiday Inn. Thanks to alumni who helped host the reception.

December 9

A reception was hosted by the APSU National Alumni Association prior to winter graduation rehearsal.

February 12

The University black-tie gala, the Candlelight Ball, will be held at Loews Vanderbilt Plaza, Nashville. It begins at 6:30 p.m. with a champagne reception, dinner is at 7:30 p.m. and dancing begins at 9:30 p.m. with sounds from "The Big Thrill." Tickets are $150 per person. April 27

The Class of 1950 will celebrate its 50-Year Reunion. All members of the class, as well as Governors Guild members, are invited.

 

May -- Dates to be announced

Plans are being made for our Atlanta alumni to gather as a group at an Atlanta Braves baseball game. If you are interested, contact the alumni office.

Plans are being made for our Huntsville and Birmingham alumni to meet. Watch your mailbox for additional information.

June 16

Travel with Larry ('67) and Kay Martin ('62) to the Islands of New England. This eight-day trip includes Providence, Newport, Rock Island, Plymouth Plantation, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Hyannis and Provincetown. Cost of the trip is $1,629 for a twin-- the cost includes 13 meals.
