The Department offers writing courses
and programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses include
expository writing, technical writing, business writing, professional writing
and editing, scriptwriting, and creative writing workshops in poetry, fiction,
and non-fictional prose.
Undergraduate students majoring in
English or other fields can add a writing minor to prepare for jobs in business,
public relations, journalism, technical writing, editing, and publishing. The

For graduate students who wish to
develop an emphasis in creative writing, the Department offers a special option
in the English M.A. program, requiring completion of at least two graduate-level
writing workshops and a creative thesis.
