The Creative Writing Minor  

This minor prepares students from various majors to pursue a vocation or an avocation as writers of poetry and/or prose. Courses taken for the minor may not be applied toward the English major.

Required course:
           ENGL 2200 ____ Introduction to Creative Writing (3)

Electives: Students choose five courses (15 hours) from the courses listed below.

           ENGL 3200 ____ Expository Writing (3)
           ENGL 3210 ____ Writing Fiction (3)
           ENGL 3220 ____ Writing Poetry (3)
           ENGL 3310 ____ Survey of Short Fiction (3)
           ENGL 3320 ____ Survey of Contemporary Poetry (3)
           ENGL 4200 ____ Writing workshop: expository (3)
           ENGL 4210 ____ Writing workshop: fiction (3)
           ENGL 4220 ____ Writing workshop: poetry (3)
           ENGL 4900 ____ Playwriting (3)
           ENGL 4950 ____ Advanced Playwriting (3) 

Students may also apply one course from another writing minor (i.e. ENGL 1100) to the creative writing minor.
