MATRICULATION

To become a graduate student in the English M.A. Program you must:

  • ·      Complete the "Application for Admission/Readmission" form, which is available from the APSU Office of Graduate Studies or from the Coordinator of English Graduate Studies.

  • ·      Deliver the completed form to the College of Graduate Studies (KB 203).

  • ·      Take the General Test of the Graduate Records Examinations (GRE).

  • ·      Meet APSU criteria for graduate admissions, which require completion of a bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and two calculated scores of 600: (1) cumulative undergraduate GPA multiplied by 100 and added to the score on the verbal section of the GRE; (2) cumulative undergraduate GPA multiplied by 100 and added to the score on the quantitative section of the GRE.  (See Graduate Bulletin for further details.)

  • ·      Arrange for two "Recommendation for Graduate Study" forms to be completed and submitted to the Graduate School by your undergraduate advisers or other persons who are able to judge your potential as a graduate student.

However, under "Non-Degree Seeking" status, you may begin taking graduate classes (limited to nine graduate hours) before completion of your bachelor's degree or before your GRE scores are available to the Office of Graduate Studies.  The Graduate Bulletin offers a full explanation of requirements for "Non-Degree Seeking" status.
