The Latin Minor

APSU offers Minors in Greek, Latin, and Classical Civilization.  The minor in Latin consist of 2 years of language study and three courses in the history and/or civilization of Greece and Rome. 

If Latin is on your radar to learn, spend your time here studying Vergil, Plautus, Livy and all those other wonderful authors who wrote in the language that Ben Jonson called ‘the Queen of Tongues.’ 

Requirement: 18-20 Credit Hours

  • Select four (4) courses below:

LATN 1010 - Elementary Latin 4
LATN 1020 - Elementary Latin 4
LATN 2010 - Intermediate Latin 3
LATN 2020 - Intermediate Latin 3
 or
any of the LATN 3000 or 4000 courses

  • Select two (2) courses below:

ART 2010 - Art History, Survey I 3
ENGL 340D - Mythology and Folklore 3
GREK 1110 - Elementary Modern Greek 4
HIST 3300 - Ancient Greece 3
HIST 3310 - Ancient Rome 3
HIST 3480 - The Early Middle Ages 3
PHIL 3100 - Ancient Philosophy 3
