Why Pursue a German Concentration with a Professional Education Minor at APSU?

If you wish to teach, major in a foreign language and minor in professional education. Pair your study of foreign language with a major or minor in business to prepare to work abroad or for an international company.

You can expand your career opportunities by taking two years of foreign language and/or participating in a study abroad program. Foreign language requirements are included in our Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) programs, and international studies programs are available to all student.

Summer Semester after Second-Year Students seeking licensure for teaching grades 7-12 in Tennessee must also take one study abroad course – GERM 3040 (6-8) for German licensure - or present evidence of acceptable intensive experience abroad in the target language. In case GERM 3040 is completed it can substitute for two equivalent GERM 2000- or 3000 level courses. Therefore the Study Abroad Requirement does not add credit hours to the total hours required   Summer Semester after Second-Year Students seeking licensure for teaching grades 7-12 in Tennessee must also take one study abroad course – GERM 3040 (6-8) for German licensure - or present evidence of acceptable intensive experience abroad in the target language. ** Course requires field experience; Residency I requires 5 weeks in schools, Residency II requires 15 weeks in schools

Praxis II Required Testing: Test Code 5624 (7-12) Principles of Learning and Teaching (minimum score 155);
and Test Code 5183 German: World Languages (minimum score 157).
