SW 3440 Crisis Intervention

This course focuses on exploring crisis intervention theories and models, processes, strategies and skills with particular attention to HIV/AIDS, suicide, sexual assault, and partner violence.  This course will be offered in a web-enhanced format using Blackboard 5.5 beginning in Spring 2003.  Class will meet as in a regular course.  I will be utilizing Blackboard to post assignments, my lecture notes, and discussion forums which students will participate in.  There will also be Internet assignments.  Students will need basic word processing skills and access to the Internet as well as e-mail.

In terms of word processing software, I will ask that students use either Microsoft Word or Corel Wordperfect.  Hopefully, you are familiar with and use computer labs on campus which your technology fees pay for.  You will be asked to activate your campus e-mail account.  Some of you probably have computers at home which will make access to course materials even more convenient.  Don't worry if you have not had any experience with Blackboard.  I will be giving orientations to the different tools of Blackboard as we move through the course so that you gradually learn how to use these tools.  It will be fun!
