Effectiveness
Institutional Research and Effectiveness (IRE) actively analyzes university
effectiveness in four areas as well as providing general guidance on
effectiveness to the Austin Peay State University and its departments.
Effectiveness involves the “effective” use of information by university
leaders who manage Austin Peay’s educational programs. There are three
steps in the efficient use of information. Step one is planning, step two
is assessment and step three is management. Achievement of quality stems
not only from planning and assessing educational outcomes but also from
improving educational outcomes based on available information.
Institutional Research and
Effectiveness follows four areas of effectiveness measurements along with
the general areas of enrollment, retention, and degree attainment. These
four areas are: accreditation, general education (Senior Exit Exams), major
field education (Major Field Tests), and Tennessee performance funding. IRE
reports annually to departments regarding information in these four areas.
