Academic Program Review

The Academic Program Review's primary purpose is improvement of educational programs at Austin Peay State University.  The outcomes of program reviews set priorities for strategic planning and budget allocations and determine the amount of performance funding dollars awarded by the state through the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC).  An effective program includes an intensive self-study conducted by each program's faculty, a critical assessment by peer evaluators both outside the state and within the institution itself, and an action plan in response to this critical assessment.

All academic units, with the exception of those undergoing accreditation review within a five-year cycle, will complete a program review at a minimum every five years.  The program review process is a collaborative effort of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, the academic unit under review, and the respective college.
