This program will allow students to experience the culture of Italy and its vast and deep roots in art in general and ceramics in particular. This is a studio course in ceramics which will begin in Rome and follow with the bulk of the term in residence at La Meridiana International School of Ceramic Art in Tuscany and then end in Venice for the final few days of the course. Italy is well known for work with ceramics and in particular works in terra cotta vessels, ceramic sculpture as well Italian ceramic tiles. The students will have the opportunity to register for Special Topics 410L, Ceramics Workshop or for Ceramics I- 2050, Ceramics II-3650, or Ceramics Sculpture -3450.
Art Special Topics 410L, Studio Special Topics, Ceramic Workshop, Ceramics Study in Italy (3 Credit Hours.)
The students will have the opportunity to register for Special Topics 410L, Ceramics Workshop or for Ceramics I- 2050, Ceramics II-3650, or Ceramics Sculpture -3450.
We will travel to Rome, Certaldo (the location of the school), Florence, San Giminano, Volterra, Cinq Terra and finally, for the last few days, to Venice.
Lodging and Meals:
Upon arrival to La Meridiana in Certaldo the study-abroad group will be housed in double-occupancy facilities at the institute and in restored Tuscan country homes a few minutes walking distance from the studios. Lunch and evening meals will be provided as part of the program package.
Level 3 ($4,000-$5000) includes APSU tuition, most meals, activities, excursions, airfare and a double-occupancy room
(Price is based upon the estimated cost of the program and grouped into levels. Level 1 - $2k-3k; Level 2 - $3k-4k; Level 3 - $4k-5k; Level 4 - $5k-6k ; Level 5 - $6k-7k. Prices are subject to change due to increase in airfare, fluctuation of currency exchange and changes in tuition and fee rates. Estimated cost may not include airfare, APSU tuition, or health coverage unless specified. You should also budget funds for personal expenses based upon your spending habits.)
