The Director reports directly to the Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services and provides campus-wide leadership for information technology related issues including the coordination of an institutional information technology plan. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of academic and administrative computer services along with telecommunication services for the entire University and provides expertise relative to the use of all technology.

The ERP Systems Administrator reports directly to the Director of Office of Information and Technology and is responsible for leading and managing the systems analysis and programming staff and functions as a lead primary systems analyst and may perform some programming. This administrator pro-actively monitors the production environment to ensure user satisfaction, anticipate new requirements based on changing business needs and new trends in technology. This position is actively involved in new development, gathering requirements and putting the required team in place to implement the solutions. This position also provides oversight and maintenance of the Banner production environment including interfaces to other systems, APSU developed applications and vendor upgrades.

The Database Manager functions under the general guidance and supervision of the ERP Systems Administrator and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the campus Banner/Oracle databases and serves as System Administrator on the Solaris Operating System. This includes installing software and third-party software, monitoring system performance, assisting users with problems, developing new applications and training new users.

The Programmer/Analyst works under general supervision of the ERP Systems Administrator. This person provides support to appropriate University offices. The Programmer/Analyst is expected to write, modify, test and document computer programs based upon supplied specifications. Programs are generally written in ProC, and SQL/PL-SQL.

The Unix Systems Manager functions under the general guidance and supervision of the Network/Server Systems Administrator. The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the UNIX and Linux systems and associated peripherals including installing software, monitoring system performance, assisting users with problems, developing new applications and providing training to the users. The incumbent is also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the ID Card System including maintaining the server and peripherals, installing card readers, monitoring system performance, assisting users with problems and providing training to the users.

The Telecommunications Manager functions under the general guidance and supervision of the Director of Information Technology and is responsible for budgeting, organizing, planning, coordinating, control and operation of telecommunications activities. The incumbent manages a variety of complex daily transactions and routines involved in the operation of a university wide voice/video network, supervises campus telephone operators and account billing clerks, prepares cost allocations, controls telephone work orders and trouble reports, maintains a call detail accounting system, maintains attendant directory service, oversees the resale of long distance services to students, coordinates the offering of CATV services on campus, supervises campus voice mail operations, serves as the liaison for all telecommunication activities on campus and oversees the installation of the campus voice and data network cable plant.

The Help Desk Manager oversees operation of Help Desk and Field Service operations for the University. The Help Desk provides a first point of contact to the University for computing and networking problems and questions. Help Desk staff assists University students, faculty and staff with computing and networking problems and work with other technical groups within Computer Services to resolve more complex problems. The Help Desk Manager may also offer workshops and online training, develop documentation (hard copy and Web-based) and issue computer accounts as well as prepare and distribute informational and promotional materials. The Help Desk serves as the initial point of contact for troubleshooting hardware/software PC and printer problems. Field Service responsibilities include repair and support of computer equipment and relocation of computer equipment.
