Reconnecting to APFacStaff Wireless - July 25, 2011

In anticipation for an upgrade to our Wireless system, the Information technology department would like to make you aware of a couple of steps that may be necessary for you to do to ensure you can reconnect to the APFacStaff Wireless internet.

If you see the following message at the bottom of your screen:

Windows taskbar message - Additional information is needed to connect APFacStaff.

You will need to click on it in order to bring up the next window:

Windows Security Alert message - The connection attempt could not be completed. Press Terminate or Connect.

This window informs you that you are connecting to our wireless system.  It is important that you click “connect” in order for you Windows operating system to accept the new security credentials.

You should only have to tell you Windows computer to perform the action once.  Should you have any questions feel free to contact the Help Desk or the IT network team.

What is my student wireless username and password? What do I use to log into the library student user computers? - January 25, 2010

With the switch to LiveMail and the shutdown of apmail (this happens January 31st), these questions have caused some concern. Even though apmail is going away, logging into student wireless and computers in the library will still use the same username and password that you used to access apmail. For new students who have never used apmail (or returning students who have forgotten), here is how to find your username and password to access student wireless and library computers:

  1. Log into onestop.apsu.edu
  2. Click on the Web Self-Service tab
  3. Click on Personal Information
  4. Click on View APSU One Stop/LIVE Email/D2L/RMS login information
  5. Find your username and initial password in the entry that says APSU Wireless/Lab login (note: if you are a returning student, you may have changed your password from the initial password – contact the Help desk to reset your password if it doesn’t work)

The Office of Information Technology is working towards creating a single username and password for access to all student resources and hopes to have the student wireless and library lab login username and password synchronized with the OneStop username and password during summer 2010.

Digital Equipment Corporation Alpha System To Be Deactivated June 30, 2009

The Digital Equipment Corporation Alpha computer system will be deactivated on June 30, 2009.  Following that date, information stored on that system will no longer be accessible.  This includes data stored in the SunGard Plus software systems.

The Alpha system was purchased in August 1996 and has hosted the SunGard Plus software system for more than 12 years.  The maintenance contract for this hardware expires on June 30.

John Lander is working in Information Technology on a post retirement basis helping offices extract data stored on the Alpha which is not available in the Banner system.  If you need assistance extracting data, please contact John Lander or Anna Murray to schedule assistance from John.

Access to the Alpha system will be restricted in the coming months in preparation for the June 30 deactivation.

Funds used for maintenance and support of the Alpha hardware and Plus software systems will be redirected to support other Banner related operational costs.
