The applied exercise science concentration provides students the opportunity to prepare for fitness positions in hospitals, retirement centers, corporate wellness centers, YMCA settings, community recreation programs, and private fitness centers. (Requirements)
The K-12 teaching concentration provides students the opportunity to prepare for teaching health and physical education and/or coaching in grades K-12. The program meets all Tennessee and NCATE guidelines. (Requirements)
The human movement concentration provides students the opportunity to prepare for positions in recreational settings such as local and state parks, recreation centers, athletic clubs, military associated recreational positions, YMCA settings, and selected private schools. (Requirements)
The health concentration provides students the opportunity to prepare for entry level health educator or health facilitator positions in hospital settings, state, regional or local health departments, home health care agencies, health maintenance organizations, nursing homes, surgical care centers, insurance companies, physician groups, and voluntary health agencies. The health care management concentration provides students the opportunity to prepare for employment as a manager in nursing homes, hospitals, regional, state or local health departments, home health care agencies, health maintenance organizations, surgical care centers, insurance companies, physician group practices, and voluntary health agencies. The physical education minor provides students who have selected a major within or outside the department the opportunity to complement their primary area of study. The minor consists of 18 semester hours selected from designated departmental courses. (Requirements)
The health minor provides students who have selected a major within or outside the department the opportunity to complement their primary area of study. The health science minor is designed to accommodate students who are HHP majors in Health Specialization or Biology majors who are seeking future admission into a physical therapy (PT) program. The designed Health Science Minor has PT school pre-requisites built in and will assist both HHP and Biology majors who intend on applying to physical therapy school after graduation. (Requirements)
The purpose of the coaching minor is for students who have an interest in seeking community or public/private school coaching opportunities. All undergraduate degree seeking students are eligible to complete the minor which is 18 hours of prescribed courses. (Requirements)
