Financial Assistance/Graduate Assistantships
Departmental graduate assistantships are available and awarded on the basis of undergraduate GPA, GRE scores, recommendations, resume, and an interview. Graduate assistants (GAs) are paid monthly and are required to work 20 hours per week. Duties are assigned based on departmental need and may include: assisting faculty in course delivery, teaching Physical Education classes, and various office duties. Working hours are flexible and will be arranged around the GA's class schedule.
Students interested in a Graduate Assistantship with the Department of Health and Human Performance must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and have scores of a 140 on both the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE, as well as a 2.5 analytical writing score.
Assistantships are available for the academic year in Sport and Wellness Leadership, Health Leadership – Health Administration Path or Health Leadership – Public Health Path. Stipends for assistantships are considered scholarships and include tuition and fee waiver. Applicants interested in a graduate assistantship must apply for admission and submit a completed application for Graduate Assistantship to the College of Graduate Studies. Deadline for Graduate Assistant Application is March 1, annually.
