Depressional Woody Wetlands

Depressional wetlands are represented by two types of woody vegetation, swamps and shrub swamps. Swamps may include both trees and shrubs but trees make up 30% or more of the uppermost stratum. Shrub swamps often may be associated with swamps but they are dominated by shrubs and trees cover less than 30% of the site.
