Meet the Staff

Dr. Jeff Rutter   

Jeff Rutter, Psy.D. (Director)

A Tennessee native, Dr. Rutter received his bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Tennessee, his masters in theology from Vanderbilt University, and his doctorate in clinical psychology from Wright State University. He served as a military psychologist for seven years before entering the field of higher education. His experience there has spanned two continents (USA and Australia) and included service as a faculty member, department chair, division chair, and counseling center administrator. While Dr. Rutter’s clinical training and experience have emphasized evidence-based forms of therapy (CBT in particular), he is interested in holistic forms of exploration and self-expression as well. Personal interests include lifelong learning, motorcycling, spending time with his wife and two teenage sons, and keeping up with his oldest daughter, a teacher in Sydney, Australia.

Teresa Prendes-Walls, M.A./Ed.S, LPC-MHSP (Assistant Director)

Teresa received her bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Chicago where she played both soccer and softball. She received her Master’s and Education Specialist degrees in Professional Counseling from Seton Hall University in New Jersey. While at Seton Hall University she pursued a Certificate in Sport and Exercise Psychology and is working toward certification as a Master’s level sport psychology consultant through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology. Teresa also appreciates the creative arts and often uses art, music, and writing as tools for developing insight and healing.  Teresa’s other clinical interests include: Eating Disorders, Anxiety, Perfectionism, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Creative Arts Therapy, Trauma, and Emotional expression.

Frank Bunner  

Frank Bunner, M.A., LMFT (Counselor/Outreach Coordinator)

Frank Bunner received his Master of Marriage and Family degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2011. Prior to this, Frank worked in a variety of ministry settings that include 10 years of cross-cultural work in Togo, West Africa and 4 years in college ministry at APSU. After graduating from Trevecca, Frank began working in the community health setting, gaining experience in working with at-risk adolescents and their families in the Clarksville area.  In 2013, Frank opened up his private practice here in Clarksville, where he continues to gain experience working with couples, individuals, and families in crisis.  In his spare time, Frank enjoys backpacking and camping with his wife and kids.  

Mayme Siders  

Mayme Siders, M.A., LMSW (Counselor/AOD Prevention Coordinator)

Mayme Siders is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with over 15 years of experience in her field. She has worked in the medical arena, the public school system, the state child welfare system, as a trainer/educator for the State of Tennessee, and most recently in community mental health, as a counselor.  This varied work experience has afforded her the opportunity to work with a variety of people of all ages and backgrounds. Mayme’s focus as a counselor is to help people to make positive, meaningful change in their lives. She has lived in Tennessee most of her life with her professional experience split between Knoxville and Clarksville. Mayme attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she received her masters of science in social work and her bachelors of arts in psychology.  Mayme has a wonderful husband, 3 great kids, and 2 slightly rotten dachshunds. When not at work, she spends her time out with family and friends, traveling whenever possible, and always striving to learn something new.

John DeMarco  

John DeMarco, M.A., LPC-MHSP (Counselor/Training Coordinator)

John DeMarco received his Master of Arts of Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University in 2008.  Following this he spent 6 years working for a non-profit community mental health clinic in a high need area that he counts as time of great challenge and great growth. He is driven by a desire to understand the human condition and how to best live this life. Curious by nature, and bored easily, John finds himself pursuing numerous interests outside of counseling. Notable hobbies include magic tricks, lucid dreaming, mindful meditation, & basketball. He’s happily married to his wife of 20 years and has two children.

Priscilla Dale  

Priscilla Dale (Administrative Assistant)

Priscilla Dale is the administrative assistant for Student Counseling Services and has been with Austin Peay State University since August 2007.  She received her Bachelor of Social Work degree with minors in psychology and sociology from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro Tennessee.  Prior to her employment with Austin Peay, she worked 15 years in residential treatment providing case management to at risk adolescents.  Other work experiences include case management and supervision in foster care/adoption and work with developmentally disabled adults.
