Alpha Psi Lambda was established in 1985 as a Latino-oriented but not a Latino exclusive co-ed fraternity. Their mission is "to promote continued personal and collective growth of our membership, success and unity through education, leadership, cultural awareness and community service." The 13 founders of Alpha Psi Lambda sought to create an organization that welcomed both men and women which allows for a one-of-a-kind Greek experience, one of familia (family). The organization is made up over 20 chapters which includes more than 1600 members and is also a member of the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, a network of over 6,000 Latino Greeks.
