ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS LIVING ON CAMPUS

This day is for campus residents and their family members.

8 a.m. – 2 p.m.                                   
Residence Hall Check-In

By the end of July, you should have received your room assignment from the Housing Office. If you haven’t, call (931) 221-7444 or e-mail housing@apsu.edu. 

When you arrive for check-in, go to your assigned residence hall to pick-up your room key.  Faculty and staff will be there to help you move in.

5 – 7 p.m.

Enjoy a meal with your family before they return home.  You also will have a chance to tour our gigantic fitness center and new swimming pool!   

Friday, Aug. 22

REQUIRED ACTIVITIES (students only)

8 – 8:45 a.m.                                      
Orientation Check-In
Dunn Center, Marion Street entrance

Bring your Govs Card (student ID).  We’ll scan it to record your attendance.  You’ll receive a copy of college catalog and student handbook.

9 a.m.                                                 
Freshman Convocation
Dunn Center

After APSU President Tim Hall and SGA President Chris Drew welcome you, you will meet your APSU 1000 peer mentor and classmates.  You’ll stay with your APSU 1000 group for the rest of the day’s activities.

10 – 11:30 a.m.

Enjoy a program designed just for Austin Peay’s newest Governors and get an official “Peay Pride” t-shirt!

Required activities end at this time.

You may want to grab dinner with some of your classmates in the APSU Café or head to an off-campus restaurant!

Lady Govs Soccer
Soccer Complex (Located between Drane & Summer on Farris ST).

Cheer on six of your new classmates at their home opener with North Dakota State.  Admission is free.

 8 – 11 p.m.       
Game Night
Clement Auditorium

 Try your luck at winning prizes playing “Music Video Bingo” and “Survey Says” with other new students.  No matter how many attend, everyone in the audience can participate.

Saturday, Aug. 23

Get to know your fellow freshmen during tug-of-war, relay races and other games. 

7 – 11 p.m.       
Luau & Beach Party Dive-In Movie
Foy Fitness Center Pool

 The Orientation Assistants, Peer Mentors and the NAACP Student Chapter will host an evening of outdoor fun. Even if you don’t plan to swim, wear your best floral shirt or grass skirt and join us for food and then a water-themed movie at 9 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 24

Join the Baptist Collegiate Ministry, Church of Christ Student Center and Wesley Foundation for a casual worship experience.

Welcome Back Bash
Morgan University Center Plaza

Enjoy live music and free food during the annual Welcome Back Bash! Open to the entire campus, the Bash is a great way to meet new people.
