Dropping Courses without Full Withdrawal from University

Main Campus

The information below only applies to full term courses (Fall, Spring and full Summer Clarksville Campus) and not module courses (Fall A, Fall I, etc.). To determine how dropping a module course would affect your financial aid award, please contact the Office of Student Financial Aid at (931) 221-7907. It is recommended that you contact the Office of Student Financial Aid before dropping courses.

Award

Dropping on First Day of Classes through Census Date (14th Day of Classes)

Dropping after Census Date (14th Day) through the end of semester

Federal Pell Grant

Award is adjusted based on hours enrolled

No Adjustment

Federal SEOG

No adjustment if dropping to ¾ or ½ time. An adjustment to half of the award amount will be made if the student drops below ½ time

Stafford Loans
(Subsidized and Unsubsidized)

Award is not cancelled unless the student drops below half-time (6 credit hours) status.

No Adjustment

Parent PLUS Loan

Award is not cancelled unless the student drops below half-time (6 credit hours) status.

No Adjustment

Perkins Loan

Award is not cancelled unless the student drops below ½ time enrollment

No Adjustment

Alternative Loans

Student must maintain 3 credit hours enrollment to retain loan.

Federal Teach Grant

Award is adjusted based on hours enrolled

Academic Scholarships

If the drop reduces the student below full-time status, the award is cancelled.

No Adjustment. However, If the drop reduces the student below full-time status, the award will be cancelled for future terms.

TN Lottery Scholarships

Award is adjusted based on hours enrolled. If the student drops below 6 credit hours, the award is cancelled

If a student drops below full time, or from ¾ time or ½ time to less than ½ time, the award is not adjusted for the current semester. However, the award will be cancelled for future semesters unless an appeal is granted

TN Promise

Award is adjusted based on hours enrolled. If the student drops below full-time status, the award is cancelled in most instances.

TSAA

Award is adjusted based on hours enrolled. If the student drops below 6 credit hours, the award is cancelled
